Join Gary Ocher in this beginner’s workshop on making handles for pizza cutters and ice cream scoops. Perfect gifts for the upcoming holidays! This workshop is geared for beginners so if you are interested in sharing your hobby with your loved ones this holiday season, this is sawdust session to sign up for.

The set up and tools are the same for the pizza cutters, ice cream scoops and ice cream paddles, so mix and match your handle to tool options. You should be able to make a combination of at least 2 pieces in this sawdust session. While the sawdust session is offered free of charge, students are expected to bring their own materials.

Materials list below: 

Wood: 2”x2”x6” blank (Rockler sells them in 6” and 12” lengths in many interesting species. These should be dry wood, not green)

Tools: Whatever cutting tools are preferred. Recommendations below. (Gouges available in club tool bags)

• Combination of round scraper/square scraper
• Skew
• Spindle Roughing gouge
• Spindle gouge
