About this event
This demo and slideshow will cover sharpening equipment and techniques, including honing, with guidance on producing an effective edge on your tools and how to diagnose and correct problems in your sharpening. Different angles and helpful set-up tools are discussed for all tools including gouges, negative rake scrapers, parting tools and skews. Questions are welcome during and after the formal demo.
Jamie Straw has been turning for over 10 years and is currently the woodturning program coordinator at Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network on Bainbridge Island. Since 2017 she has taught spindle and bowl turning classes, lathe tool sharpening and bandsaw safety and techniques classes. She enjoys turning both spindle and bowl projects, and sells annually at the BARN Bazaar in November. She is a member of both OPCAAW and Strait Turners.
