Who We Are

We’re glad you’re here! Seattle Woodturners is a local chapter of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW), an organization that promotes woodturning through education, information, outreach, community, and inspiration. We are all-volunteer, self-funding, and registered with the IRS as a non-profit 501(c)(3). Our club recently celebrated our 30 year anniversary as a local chapter, 1987 – 2017.

Our chapter, also known as the ‘club’, serves woodturners in the greater Seattle area, including King County and beyond, and operates in accordance with  our parent AAW organization’s mission:  “To provide education, information, and organization to those interested in turning wood”.

With 150+ members, we are a friendly and diverse group that includes both novice and expert woodturners with a broad range of interests and techniques, as well as professional turners and published authors who generously share their expertise. Our leadership team guides, shapes, and establishes priorities for the club according to our By-Laws.

Learn more about what we offer to our members, who have access to an exclusive set of resources, discounts, and educational opportunities, all sponsored by the club. And come visit us, too! You don’t have to be a member to attend one of our monthly meetings and it’s a great way to get to know us.

Whether you have just discovered woodturning or are a long-time turner, Seattle Woodturners offers members a wide range of opportunities and benefits. Feel free to contact us with your questions, too!
