WIT: Live Edge Turning with Diana Friend

About this event

Diana will cover the ins and outs of turning a small live edge piece from Madrone, including wood selection, blank orientation, and strategies for shaping as well as entering the bark during shaping. She will also discuss the hows and whys of going thinner and share her thoughts on finishes. Diana will supply a Madrone blank and materials for creating a Razor tie in the event of any cracking. Participants are invited to bring their own pieces along for more specific advice and/or a second blank if they'd like to turn another vessel during the session.

Supply fee: $5

*While WIT events are intended to increase the number of women in woodturning, they are open to all members of the Seattle Woodturners club and the public alike! Consider joining in and bringing along a friend :) If you are outside our demographic focus, please contact the WIT Liaison for accommodation if space is available.
