WIT: Ancient Finishes & Their Modern Equivalents
About this event
Join us as master finisher Tom Henscheid leads us in an exploration of ancient finishes and their modern day counterparts - specifically non-toxic varieties that can be made with common organic materials! Drawing on his studies in art conservation, this session will be in part a history/chemistry lesson and also a chance to experiment. Tom will cover oils, resins, emulsions and mixtures of them. (He will also supply sample boards for ease of testing.) So grab your goggles as we enter the laboratory and investigate these enduring finishes.
All supplies will be provided for a $10 supply fee.
*While WIT events are intended to increase the number of women in woodturning, they are open to all members of the Seattle Woodturners club and the public alike! Consider joining in and bringing along a friend :)
